New York City Page
What more
can be said about New York City? Also
known as The Big Apple, Gotham, and the City That Never Sleeps, New York is the
largest city in the United States and one of the largest in the world, with over
eight million people in the city proper and more than 22 million in the greater
Tri-State area, stretching from New Jersey across Downstate New York and into
Connecticut. It is located at the centre
of the Boston–Washington megalopolis, four hours southwest of Boston, 4½ hours
northeast of Washington, DC, and two hours northeast of Philadelphia. Fittingly for a city of its size, there are
many local transit systems in the New York Metro area, not only including
state-, county- and city-run systems in New York but also state-wide agencies
in New Jersey and Connecticut. Click on
the links below to see photos of transit in the greater New York area.
