337 is a 1950 Twin Coach, seen at Hurdman Station on June 4, 1991.  This bus is really ex-Windsor 361, purchased in 1984 to represent the early buses purchased by the OTC.  It is painted in the livery used between 1939 and 1956 by the Ottawa Electric Railway and the Ottawa Transportation Commission.  (Photos by Steve R.)

5101 is a 1958 “Old Look”, and is seen here boarding sightseers at Lansdowne Park on May 26, 1991.  If you look closely, you can see that only half of the front door is fitted to the bus.  OC Transpo removed the windows from this bus when it was transferred to sightseeing service, creating an open-air coach.

These photos of 5101 more clearly show the modifications done to the bus before it was transferred to the historic fleet.  Along with the removal of the side windows, the rear exit was covered over, and an extra set of seats was placed over the stepwell.  These photos were taken during the Open Doors Ottawa open house on June 4, 2005, at the St. Laurent garage.

5101 was spotted in the St. Laurent North garage on August 1st, 2008.

5108 is a 1958 GM TDH-5105, apparently being cannibalized to provide parts for the preserved bus 5931.  This photo was taken from the St. Laurent Blvd. bridge over the railway tracks next to the OC Transpo garage on May 23, 2002.  By August 2007, 5108 had been moved to the Swansea yard in the southeast part of Ottawa and the bus was scrapped in 2008.  (Thumbnail only; no enlarged photo available)

5931 is another 1958 “Old Look”, and is shown at Hurdman Station on June 4, 1991.  This bus was brought out to carry passengers on the newly opened stretch of Transitway between Hurdman and the Riverside Hospital. (Photo by Steve R.)

5931 is seen here on Lisgar Street behind the Regional Headquarters (now Ottawa City Hall) on June 27, 1999.  The bus was offering tours of the city during an open house at Regional HQ.  In front of 5931 is Nova LFS 9732.

5931 is shown on display behind the St. Laurent garage at the Open Doors Ottawa open house on June 12, 2004.  This bus was one of 104 GM TDH-5105 buses purchased in 1958 and 1959 to replace Ottawa’s streetcar fleet, and it was the last of the GM “Old Look” buses to be withdrawn from service.  By the summer of 2008, this bus had been moved to the Swansea yard in the south end of the city.

5931 is shown in the Swansea yard in southeast Ottawa on July 1st, 2010, along with 6101, 4250 and 9724.  After years of being stored outside, the historic buses are once again being maintained, and 5931 was restored to running condition in late 2012.

6101 is a 1961 New Look shown on Queen Elizabeth Drive in 1986.  This bus was the first GM New Look purchased by the OTC and only the sixth built by the new Diesel Division plant in London, Ontario.  This bus was repainted into the original livery after being withdrawn from revenue service in the early 1980’s. 6101 is shown on display during the Open Doors Ottawa open house June 12, 2004.  A contemporary “GM” nameplate has been placed on the bus instead of the more modern “GMC” plate as shown on the photo above.  As of January 2009, this bus was being stored outside at the Swansea yard in southeast Ottawa.

905 is a 1933 Ottawa Car, shown in the parking lot behind the St. Laurent garage on April 12, 2006 (above), and again on April 28, 2007 (below).  This streetcar was purchased from the scrap yard in 1959 for $100, and spent more than forty years as a cottage in Quebec before being acquired by OC Transpo in 2004.  It is in remarkably good condition and is being restored by the same volunteers rebuilding streetcar 696, a 1917 product of the Ottawa Car Company.  Also in these photos are Gray Coach 692, a 1937 Yellow Coach 743; Provincial Transport 5021, a 1950 CCF & Brill IUC-35A50; and OC Transpo 8702, a 1970 Western Flyer D700A.
