The
cities of Halifax and Dartmouth are served by Metro Transit, a bus system
formed in 1981 by the combination of Halifax Transit and Dartmouth
Transit. The service area population is
about 373,000, and include the villages of Herring Cove, Purcell’s Cove and
Sackville. A bus fleet of 180 vehicles,
which consists of GM New Looks; GM, MCI, and Nova Bus Classics; NovaBus LFS
buses, New Flyer D30LF buses, and rare NovaBus Classic articulated buses, is
used to provide service, as well as three ferries that link the downtown cores
of Halifax and Dartmouth.
