Region of Waterloo Grand River TransitGRT Page

Grand River Transit was formed in 2000 by the amalgamation of Kitchener Transit and Cambridge Transit.  Kitchener Transit provided Flyer D800B, GM New Look, GM and MCI Classic, Orion V, and New Flyer D40LF buses, while Cambridge Transit provided GM New Look, GM and MCI Classic, Orion I, V, and VI, and NovaBus LFS buses.  The Flyers, GM New Looks and C40LF have since been retired, while more New Flyer, LFS, and Orion VII buses have been purchased.  Despite the merger, there are still separate Kitchener-Waterloo and Cambridge divisions, each with its own bus fleet and route network.  In total, there are 250 buses providing service to a population of about 478,000.  GRT also operates the iXpress bus service, linking the Ainslie Street Terminal in Cambridge with the Conestoga Mall in Waterloo and providing fast service to several locations in Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo.
