The Chittenden County Transportation Authority is responsible for bus service throughout Chittenden County, including Burlington, Essex, Shelburne, South Burlington and Winooski.  The bus fleet consists of NovaBus RTS and Gillig Advantage buses, along with some smaller Stewart & Stevenson Sharship shuttle buses for use on the less travelled routes, totalling 47 vehicles.  In addition, the CCTA operates buses for the Green Mountain Transportation Authority in Montpelier, and the Link Express route that connects the two cities using Interstate 89.
