The Chittenden County Transportation Authority
is responsible for bus service throughout Chittenden County, including
Burlington, Essex, Shelburne, South Burlington and Winooski. The bus fleet consists of NovaBus RTS and
Gillig Advantage buses, along with some smaller Stewart & Stevenson
Sharship shuttle buses for use on the less travelled routes, totalling 47
vehicles. In addition, the CCTA operates
buses for the Green Mountain Transportation Authority in Montpelier, and the
Link Express route that connects the two cities using Interstate 89.
